This is the second book in Charlaine Harris's Harper Connelly series. Charlaine Harris (from Sookie Stackhouse/True Blood fame) has created another edgy and interesting character in Harper Connelly, and this second book is a continuation of Harper and her step brother Tolliver's travels finding dead people. Yes, you read that right. Harper, after having been struck by lighting, has a talent for finding dead people and ascertaining how they died.
Like the first book, this one revolves around one particular mystery. This time it is a 11 year old girl who has been abducted, and Harper and Tolliver are drawn into the intricate web of lies and intrigue that surround the family.
Eventhough Harper has a spectacular talent, the book is not anywhere near as 'supernatural' as the Sookie series. So if you found the Sookie books a bit too far out (for the record, I did not), you might want to give Harper a try.
